Under some of France’s pension schemes, periods during which you received daily sick leave benefits will count towards your length of insurance.
This means that periods of sick leave have a limited impact on your accrual of pension quarters. However, if you have numerous or long periods of sick leave, these can lower the amount of your pension.

One quarter is credited to your account for every 60 days you receive daily sick leave benefits, up to a maximum of 4 quarters per year. This means that sick leave has a limited impact on your accrual of pension quarters.
Statutory leave on health grounds counts towards your retirement pension. If you are prescribed part-time work on health grounds after your leave, this counts as full-time employment towards your retirement pension.
While on medical leave, if you are determined to be permanently medically unfit to resume your duties and you are unable to be transferred elsewhere, you can apply to be medically retired due to disability, which entitles you to a disability pension.
After your leave, your employer can retire you involuntarily, which also entitles you to a disability pension.

Supplementary pension points will be credited to your account free of charge. These will be calculated based on the unpaid portion of your wages, on which you did not pay contributions.
Eligibility criteria:
Your sick leave must have been prescribed after January 1st, 1966,
It must be for a period of at least 30 days,
And you must have received compensatory benefits from France’s general social security scheme during that period.

One quarter is credited to your account for every 90 days of paid sick leave.
Your pension scheme does not have a special program for counting sick leave. Periods during which you receive sick leave benefits are contributory, which means they are credited toward your retirement.
Short-term sick leave
Periods of sick leave lasting less than a year, during which your employer continued to pay your salary, are credited to your account as periods of employment.
Long-term sick leave
Periods of sick leave lasting more than a year are credited to your account as periods of employment for as long as your employer continues to pay your salary:
For a period of three years at full salary,
For two additional years while you receive half of your salary.
If you are on long-term illness leave or your occupational health physician has determined that you are unfit to continue in your job and unable to be transferred elsewhere within your company, you can apply to claim your pension on condition that:
You are at least 50 years old,
You were actively employed in the industry for at least 15 years.
